3 YouTubers Who Make It Easy (And Fun) To Work Out at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

When it comes to working out, I’ve tried it all: going to a gym, doing group fitness classes, playing a sport and even just jogging around my neighborhood. But over the years I’ve discovered that I’m happier and more consistent when I work out at home—it’s quicker and more convenient for me, and it makes me feel a lot less self-conscious. And luckily, there’s no shortage of free exercise videos online that I can follow along with. Here are three of my favorite fitness YouTubers who make it easy (and fun) to work out at home:

Sydney Cummings

Sydney Cummings is a NASM certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist who makes amazing weight-based workout videos. She uploads daily videos that are about 30-50-minutes in length, and most of her workouts require medium to heavy dumbbells. Sydney’s words of encouragement keep me motivated even when I want to quit, and I feel so strong every time I finish one of her workouts. The videos are also accessible for people of all fitness levels because you’re able to choose how heavy your weights are (or if you want to use any weights at all) for each of the moves. Overall, her content is perfect for people who want to get a more traditional “gym workout” in their own homes.

growwithjo

I originally found Johanna through TikTok, and I immediately knew that I had to try one of her workouts—they just looked like so much fun! She usually makes walking and dance-based workout videos on her YouTube channel, growwithjo. Jo’s videos are also unique in that she doesn’t talk during the workout—you just look at the screen to see which moves are coming next—so you can really hear the music and move to the beat. These workouts leave me feeling amazing; they get my heart pumping but they don’t really feel like exercise. Plus, Jo’s huge smile always boosts my mood. I highly recommend them if you want to incorporate more movement into your life in a unique and enjoyable way.

blogilates

Cassey Ho, aka blogilates, is very well known in the fitness YouTube community for a reason—her Pilates-based workout videos are incredible and she has a sweet, bubbly personality. You don’t need any equipment other than a yoga mat to do the vast majority of her videos, so you can get a good workout even if you don’t have weights at home. And one of the things I love about Cassey is that she likes to tell little stories while doing the exercises, which helps distract me when my legs or arms are burning mid-workout. You should definitely check out her channel if you love Pilates or if you’re just looking for a new challenge.

These YouTubers have helped me develop a fitness routine that works well for me, and they can do the same for you! With their help, you can get stronger and more confident from the comfort of your own home.
