Five Ways to Stay Healthy During the School Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

 1. Schedule Time to Exercise

Just like you have your classes scheduled each day, it is important to schedule time to exercise. Work around your schedule to find at least an hour to go for a jog, or hit the gym with your friends. Do not forget to eat a healthy snack before and after your workout session to keep your body well nourished.

 2.  Prepare Your Food the Night Before

Take some time before you go to bed to prepare your meals for the next day. Having your meals ready to go saves you time to stay on top of your busy day. Preparing your meals ahead of time will help you stress less because you will have to worry about one less thing.

 3. Stay Hydrated

It can be easy to forget about drinking water throughout the day. But, keeping a reusable water bottle with you when you are on campus can help remind you to stay hydrated. Making sure to drink plenty of water because it will help you to stay focused in class, and stay on the move.

4. Get a Good Night Sleep

Adults are recommended to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. As a college student, it can be difficult to get that many hours of sleep, but if you prioritize your time it can definitely happen. Getting a good night sleep will help you stay awake in class, and alert throughout your busy day.

5. Take Time for Yourself

Make sure to take time at least once a week to take care of yourself. Whether you treat yourself to a movie or frozen yogurt, it is important to remember your physical and mental health always comes first. No matter how stressful school may get, remember to take time to remind yourself why you are doing all of this in the first place. At the end of the day, your happiness should be your number one priority.
