Sing Your Way Into Spring With This Ultimate Spring Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

It’s finally here—the season of love, the season of new beginnings, the season of rosebuds peeking up through the grass and pinker sunsets: Spring! The end of the year is just around the corner and everyone is excited to get out there and make memories as the days start to get longer and warmer. Although I love spring with all my heart, spring is a slight reminder that finals season is right around the corner, so a lot of stress is jam-packed into spring months. The best thing you need to relieve finals stress and set the tone to dance into spring with? Music. And I have created the ultimate spring playlist, which has songs to both relax your mind into a state of absolute calmness as well as songs that will leave you dancing away into the night.

Flowers In Your Hair – the Lumineers

This song falls into the indie category and really helps calm you down after a long day of working hard. The verses are chill with little strums of the guitar here and there, but the chorus does pick up. The story behind the song is about a man falling in love with a girl he grew up with and realizing how in love he is as time passes and they grow closer. It’s an adorable song to celebrate the season of love with!

Beautiful Day – Nuriel

This song just describes the beauty of the day the artist is living in, and it celebrates loving your life and living in the moment. It’s a great driving song or a song to remind you of all the positive things in your life.

I’m Okay – Honest Men

This song talks about how it feels to be overwhelmed by stress, but how you are able to always find peace in your heart to make you want to be okay and spend your days doing things for yourself to find the solace and strength you need. It is catchy and upbeat, and you will find yourself tapping your foot along to the infectious rhythm.

Tokyo Nights – Digital Farm Animals

For those that like songs with a dancy, electronic feel rather than the average chill, indie Spring song: this song is a wild card thrown in just for you. It is extremely catchy and unique, and I personally like to play it when I’m driving at sunset, surrounded by pink skies and empty winding roads with the promise of a great night ahead.

The Night We Met – Lord Huron

For those spring nights where you’re thinking about love and all that it means to you, this song was made popular for many people from the show 13 Reasons Why when it was played as a slow dance between the two main characters. It is a beautiful song with a choral background and really puts you in your feels for those nights that you spend thinking and reminiscing.

Saturday Sun – Vance Joy

For those that know Vance Joy, he specializes in chill songs with soft, fleeting verses and more upbeat choruses. As a big Vance Joy fan, this song is right up there on my list of tunes to listen to whenever I’m feeling bored or down. This will perk you up for finals better than any large iced coffee can, and it will remind you to work hard and get yourself ready for your amazing spring nights ahead.

Dog Days Are Over – Florence and the Machine

This song will remind you that we are all turning a page: the worst is over and the best is yet to come. Keep working hard, you’re nearly there! The tune is incredibly catchy and the instrumentals are genius—definitely worth giving it a listen.

Youth – Troye Sivan

This song talks about what it means to be young and having fun and to make crazy choices spontaneously and carry through with them. Let this song transport you to a world where you are free from all the burdens and stress around you, so that you can live your best life.

Good Life – OneRepublic

Speaking of your best life, let OneRepublic tell you all about living that good life. This song is upbeat and catchy and describes letting loose and having a good time, even though things may not look the best right now. Ease your way into spring break and the end of exams and heavy workloads with this song about just having a fun time.

Castle on the Hill – Ed Sheeran

Okay, Ed Sheeran’s Divide album did come out two years ago, but this song is such a gem that it’s impossible to let go of. All of Ed’s feelings about driving fast and wild and having an amazing time with friends will diffuse into you as you listen to this at maximum volume. Once the chorus hits, it’s impossible not to be up and dancing and having a good time with the people you love.

Spring can be a tough time but also a time of self-care and joy. Use this playlist to get in touch with the inner you and give yourself peace and solace through music. Have an amazing and musical rest of the spring semester, Collegiettes!
