Just Between Us, This Podcast Is Exactly the Self Care You Need

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

If you’re new to the podcast game, or you haven’t branched out from your usual go-to’s, you may be missing out; that is if you haven’t added Bailee Madison and Kaitlin Vilasuso’s “Just Between Us” to your queue. Now, I don’t really consider myself a podcast person. I love music and will be listening (and most of the time singing along) to something about 99% of the time. Sometimes though I get tired of listening to music and just look for an alternate de-stressor to switch up my usual routine. I had been on the hunt for a good podcast for a long time, but I always thought that I had to be interested in a certain topic to find a good podcast – whether it be sports, a certain TV show, politics, science or the like. It just so happens that around this time is when the podcast, “Just Between Us”, made it’s debut episode, and changed my weekly routine (and mindset) completely.

“Your go-to podcast for laughs, life lessons, bomb guests and sisterly secrets” – Kaitlin Vilasuso

As someone who’s been a fan of Bailee and Kaitlin’s for the longest time, I was super excited at the thought of them creating a podcast together. These two have always been an inspiration to me, and have somehow always managed to remind me to acknowledge the positives in my life and pick myself up from the lows at the right times. So an hour long podcast with both of them each week? Sign me up!

If you’re unfamiliar with this dynamic sister duo, Bailee Madison is a well known actress (in movies such as “Just Go With It”, “Bridge to Teribithia”, “Strangers 2: Prey at Night” and more), producer, author, and advocate. Her sister, Kaitlin Vilasuso is also an actress, blogger, and momma of two. Together in each episode, they cover a variety of topics which impact their audience in different ways. They’ve discussed topics such as navigating relationships, parenting, the pressures of social media, overcoming anxiety and body image, succeeding in your personal goals, holding yourself accountable and many more self care tips that we all can use – and that I can say have helped me make positive changes in my life. Kaitlin and Bailee’s genuine, humble and positive personalities keep you uplifted and motivated as you go through your day. These two always keep it real and don’t sugarcoat anything; teaching that having bad days is okay and just because you may be struggling with something, doesn’t mean that you’ve failed at it – that you’re a work in progress and continuing to put work into something is a success all on its own.

Besides these life lessons, they also talk about their upcoming projects, fun of the holidays, their lives on set, and other personal stories that truly makes it feel like it’s just the three of you for that one hour. Aside from just the two of them bringing all of this to the table, they feature new guests frequently to bring a fresh perspective on different topics, such as actress Shay Mitchell, singer Meghan Trainor, cancer survivor Alex Wilson, empowerment coach Kelsey Patel and more. Whether I’m looking for some life advice, or just need to escape the stressors of my life for a little while, I know that I can always turn to this podcast for a little bit of self love and laughter.

All of this being said – they haven’t even hit their one year anniversary yet! There’s many more things to come in the next year and I know I’ll be tuning in. So what are you waiting for? Click here to subscribe.
