How To Survive Finals: As Told by the Cast of F.R.I.E.N.D.S

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

It’s that time of the year again, guys! Yes, finals have once again crept up on us and have made their presence known.

As finals approach the first thing we are tempted to do is go into a panic.

But here are some tips on how to survive so you can make it home for the holidays.

1. Organization

Try not to leave everything until the last minute. For example, if you have tests and papers due on the same day, don’t wait until the day before to complete them. Your future self will thank you and your tears could be shed over better things like the holiday movie “Love Actually”.

2. Don’t become a hermit

Yes, staying in and studying is good. Total isolation, however, just leads to more unwanted stress and unhappiness. Take a couple of minutes out of your study schedule to just chill with your friends. They will help ease the pain of the days to come.

3. We all love coffee, but caffeine is not a food group

Remember to actually eat well. Monsters, five hour energy, and coffee may keep you up…but treat yourself to actual food you have to chew.

4. Music Makes You Lose Control

Take a break to open up Spotify or Pandora, and just drop it low in your room for a couple of minutes. Hint: Justin Bieber’s new album is pretty ideal.

5. It’s Okay to Cry, Scream, or Just Lay in Bed Contemplating Life

You are entitled to your moment, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

6. Sleep

What is sleep? Does it even exist in college? The answer is yes, so make sure you catch up on it before the big day.

7. Get Rid of the Negativity

As Natasha Benigfield once said “Release your inhibitions and feel the rain on your skin.” Yes finals are stressful, horrible, and we wish they did not exist…but they are also not the end of the world. Go in confident to your exam. You studied and are well-prepared to ace that test.

Just remember that once the tests are turned in and your walk out of your last class…the holiday season can officially begin!
