5 Reasons Why You Should Start Reading Mom Blogs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Do you live for reading blogs and scrolling through Pinterest? Are you always looking for new recipes and ways to improve your life? Well, I have the perfect place for you. And that is (drumroll please)….

Mom blogs!

Mom blogs are just what they sound like — blogs written by moms, and (generally) for moms and other caregivers, but shockingly, they are also perfect for any Colleigette that is willing to give them a read! Even if you don’t have children of your own or are not planning on it, mom blogs actually can be both entertaining and useful. Although the reasons for why I love reading my them are practically endless, I made a small list for why you might want to start reading them too!

1. They have the best DIY’s

I don’t know why they’re so great, but literally every mom blog has dozens of really cool DIY projects. It’s basically like Pinterest, but 10 times more home decor, and 20 times more reasons to start thrift shopping.

2. They review the coolest things

I don’t know about you, but I live for watching people review the most random things. Even if I don’t want to buy them, it’s just cool to learn about new stuff and why you might want it. Of course, most bloggers that are college-age tend to review much different things than a parent, which is a good and bad thing. But, if you are just moving into a new apartment or home for the first time, and are looking for really great products for the kitchen or really nice places for furniture, mom blogs have got your back.

3. They give really great health tips

Most of the mom blogs out there strive to help other families keep a healthy lifestyle throughout all the hectic times that happen with caring for children. Even though you might not have a child, this doesn’t mean that you can’t use some of those tips! Dealing with college can take up a ton of your life and leave you with very little time to actually take care of yourself. So being able to learn how to meal prep for the week or how to plan your day when you know it’ll be busy can really be a lifesaver!

4. You can find the coolest remedies to ailments that you didn’t even know you had

Welcome to the world of paranoid moms. They have remedies for all of the things that you didn’t even know there were remedies for. Like, who knew you could use lavender and salt to fix an ear infection?

5. They have amazing recipes

Being a family-oriented blog, most of them have really great recipes (that usually feed a lot of people which is really helpful if you have a lot of roommates!)

Although mom blogs may not seem like a solid resource for college students, I would definitely recommend to anyone! With all the amazing work that moms have to do, they have great life hacks that no one else would think of. No matter what aspect of your life your looking for tips on, they’re sure to have something on it!
