Do you crave sugar ALL THE TIME?

Well, you’re not alone!

I’ve been struggling with my sweet tooth for a while and quarantine made it ten times worse. Sugar cravings are very common (especially in women) which can lead to binge eating or consuming more calories than your daily intake. When most people have a sweet tooth, they reach for something unhealthy that’s loaded with sugar and lots of fat. Cutting out sugar completely can be hard, so I decided to figure out a way to satisfy my craving without consuming tons of sugar and fat. Here are some great options to curb your cravings whenever they occur!

1. MadeGood Granola Bars

MadeGood bars are an excellent way to curb or satisfy your sweet tooth. They’re made with nutrients that contain a whole serving of vegetables – don’t worry, you can’t taste them! MadeGood bars are a great option for people with many allergies like myself because it’s free from the top 10 allergens. It tastes like a chocolate chip cookie (depending on what flavor you get). For one bar, it’s only 100 calories and comes in many flavors such as chocolate chip, chocolate banana, apple cinnamon, mixed berry, strawberry, and cookies & creme. They also sell granola bites, crispy squares, mini cookies, and granola which I also highly recommend!

2. Dark Chocolate

Most people crave chocolate when they have a sugar craving. But what some people don’t know is that dark chocolate contains healthy compounds and is shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects that help improve heart health. Try swapping regular chocolate with dark chocolate for its low sugar and antioxidant properties!

3. Protein Shakes or Smoothies

The sweetness of fruit and yogurt or milk can satisfy your sweet craving and also provide you with nutrients. A smoothie with fruit has great natural sugars. If you choose a protein shake, the protein and fruit you blend will give you good nutrients. This will fill you up and also give you a little bit of sugar to curb your sweet tooth craving, with whatever kind you make.

4. Yogurt with Fruit or Granola

Yogurt is a great snack and provides nutrients such as protein and calcium that will curb your craving for a sweet dessert. I’m personally not a big fan of yogurt, so instead, I freeze it to give it the consistency of ice cream and add some granola on top.

5. Trail Mix

A handful of trail mix is a great way to curb your craving. Normally, trail mixes include dried fruit, nuts, and seeds. Nuts are especially great to have because it has healthy fats, protein, and fiber which can lower risk factors to certain diseases. Make sure if you’re buying or making a trail mix it has healthy nutrients: you can even add some chocolate chips to it!
