Thanksgiving Health Tips from Your Favorite Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

What’s something that goes together like peanut butter and jelly?  Thanksgiving and Friends, of course.  What else goes together like peanut butter and jelly?  Thanksgiving break and food, sleep, and lounging around in our pajamas all day.  Around the holidays, delicious food and the ability to become a lazy slug, tends to become the centerpiece of our relaxing vacation.  I’m a full believer in indulging and finding a balance between healthy and not-so-healthy during the holidays.  Because, when else do you get to eat some tasty stuffing and cranberry sauce?  However, after this holiday we can definitely begin to feel a little out of it! Many of us find ourselves in need some tips to get our ourselves back to the healthiest and happiest we can be.

And so, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I present to you some Thanksgiving health tips from all of your favorite Friends.

It’s finally that time of year…Turkey time

You’re so excited because Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays of the year…

because of the food….

and the ability to sit around and do nothing all day

There’s delicious turkey

And mini marshmallows atop tasty sweet potatoes (or in your nose)

You have prepared yourself

And enjoyed every delicious bite

But now you’re full, sleepy, and in need of a post-Thanksgiving health reboot

First, hit the gym, do some yoga, or break a sweat anyway you know how

Make sure you drink a lot of water and rejoice in its hydrating and debloating abilities

Eat balanced meals with a lot of colorful veggies and fruits, protein, and healthy fats

And finally, get a lot of sleep.  Aim for 7+ hours a night for optimal performance.

These simple steps should help you feel better and back on point for that last week of classes and final exams.  After finals, prepare yourself, because it’s the holiday season and that means you get to do it all again after winter break!
