Starting your day off in the right way can really change your mood drastically–here are some things I try to do every morning!

Coffee and Chill

Get out of bed, make your coffee (or tea!) and get right back under your blankets to sip and scroll through Facebook or read the news for a few extra minutes.  Not only does this start off your day on a good note, but it’s much easier to get out of bed knowing you’re going to get right back in.

Stretch (or try another relaxation technique)

Even if it’s just for a couple minutes, stretching is very calming and good for the body.  I exercise every day so stretching in the morning also eliminates having to stretch for a long time before running!  If stretching isn’t for you, you could try meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, or another relaxation exercise.

Water

I make sure to drink at least one full glass of water in the morning, even if I don’t feel like I need it, to avoid dehydration.  It’s so easy to forget to drink throughout the day, and if you start every day with a glass of water, you already have a head start!

Skincare

It may seem silly, but incorporating pampering your face into your morning routine not only feels relaxing and productive, but your skin will also thank you!

Robe

As I do whatever I need to do in the morning to get ready, I always wear my robe.  It makes me feel a lot cozier and more comfortable.

Breakfast

Whether you prefer grabbing something on the go or actually sitting and eating, be sure to have a breakfast you actually enjoy and look forward to.  Having a combination of protein, healthy fat, and carbs in the morning will give you energy for the day– I love eating almond butter and sliced bananas on toast.

Plan Ahead

Last but not least, it’s really important to me to save time by putting my books in my bag and sometimes even putting my clothes out before I go to bed.  That way when I wake up, I can take my time and not really have much to do.
