Weekend Trip to Austin Fall Itinerary

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

Thursday: You arrive in Austin just in time for dinner. Head to one of the city’s many iconic Tex-Mex restaurants for a taste of the state’s best-known cuisine. My personal favorite is Fresas for both the ambiance (beautiful lights around gigantic oak trees on their patio) & the food. Before heading to bed, stop for a drink on Rainey, Barton Springs, or West 6th.

Friday: Sleep in & start the day slow with a walk along Towne Lake (be sure to stop at Zilker Park). Stop at The Line Hotel for Alfred’s Coffee & Veracruz breakfast tacos. Or, if you’re feeling like getting away from downtown, walk through the stunning neighborhoods near the University of Texas Campus to Littlefield’s for Medici Coffee and Veracruz. Next, stop at the Whole Foods headquarters location to pick up some picnic items for a picnic on Mount Bonnell. Finally, stop at Mozart’s to take in Lake Austin.

Saturday: Wake up & head to a University of Texas Football Game. You just can’t beat the Longhorn spirit! Spend the afternoon strolling along the magical South Congress boutiques & a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants. End the night at the Continental Club to take in the Live Music Capital of the World!

Sunday: Wake up for food at one of Austin’s notable brunch spots (I recommend Hank’s or Eberly). Take a quick dip in Barton Spring’s to end the trip with a splash!

Additional tip: Koko’s Guide to Austin is a great little handbook for all your Austin exploring!

Hi, I'm Madeline Muschalik! This is my fourth year in Her Campus; I wrote for Her Campus at Wake Forest University before transferring to UT in fall 2019. Last year I was the Her Campus Texas Co-President and Campus Correspondent & it was so rewarding. I am excited to explore Austin and learn more about our university through Texas Her Campus. Some of my hobbies include running, reading, yoga, and traveling! I am a Public Relations Major and with a minor in Entrepreneurship and certificate in Creative Writing. Outside of Her Campus I am involved in Texas American Marketing Association, Moody Communication Council, a member of the Kendra Scott WEL Institute Student Council, Texas Kappa Delta, and I am a Transfer Year Interest Group (TRIG) mentor. I love UT & all the amazing opportunities (like Her Campus) that it has to offer!
