3 Untraditional Spring Looks to Try Now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

With what seems like the gloomiest and longest winter ever finally behind us, we can start to enjoy spring! *Cue the bluebonnets, butterflies and seasonal allergies* Floaty florals have been a spring staple probably since the beginning of time. Though tradition isn’t always a bad thing, it might be time to add a little edge into your spring mix!

Think masculine, tougher accessories that can still be paired seamlessly with your spring favorites. The juxtaposition between the feminine floral prints and more aggressive pieces will make you the epitome of chic as you go through the season. Here are some cool accessories to toughen up your spring!

1.     Gladiator sandals

The Romans may have rocked them, but why can’t you? The best thing about wearing these shoes is that they add just a little bit of whimsy to almost any outfit. From cut off shorts to frilly dresses, these will become your go-to shoes this season. They go with practically everything and will make you stand out in a crowd!

2.     Overalls

These are nothing like unfortunate pair your mom dressed you in when you were six. Overalls have made a comeback in a way that makes the wearer look like they stepped out of fashion week, instead of a 90s paint catalogue. With options like distressing, short-alls, fun embellishments and even leather; overalls are back with a fashionable vengeance. They are bound to be an important part of your spring arsenal.

  3. Tennis shoes

This trend seems like something taken straight from UT. Pairing running shoes with more put together outfits has become a part of the new obsession with “normcore.” Nothing says cute and comfort like strutting around town looking amazing while in cushy footwear. The key is to make sure that these are NOT the same shoes you workout in. This will keep your outfit fresh (no pun intended) and sporty while giving you a new spring in your step!
