How to Have the perfect fall day in Stony Brook

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

The fall weather this year has definitely been weird, but the trees are brown or empty and the weather is finally chilly, so I’m enjoying the last few minutes of fall weather. This is how I have the perfect fall day in the Stony Brook area.

Start with a morning yoga class at Inhales Wellness in St. James. This studio has barre, yoga and a matcha bar. This is the perfect way to start your morning with peace and a little caffeine.

After yoga, Soul Brew is the place to have brunch. Their seasonal specials are always amazing and full of seasonal flavors, with pumpkin french toast, pumpkin crumb cakes and a brie and turkey wrap. The ambiance is adorable and perfectly cozy for a fall day.

Then head down Nicholls Road to Savers in Holbrook. This is honestly my favorite thrift store on Long Island and it’s only about 20 minutes from campus. Plus every time you donate you get a coupon for 20% off your purchase. I have found a ton of my favorite thrifted pieces here, and its huge so it’s definitely a good place to spend a few hours.

After thrifting, head back to Stony Brook and grab a hot drink at Druthers Coffee. Their seasonal menu is super delicious with spiced apple cider, pumpkin chai cocoa and golden milk, which is oat milk with lemon turmeric tea and spices.

Take your warm drink and head to Pantaleons Farm to grab some fall flowers and pumpkins to decorate your dorm or apartment. Enjoy the drive down 25-A and the leaves and hills of Stony Brook.

Then it’s dinner time, check out Umami for all you can eat sushi and other yummy Asian dishes. Or if you feel like hanging out on campus, head to Jasmine for yummy sushi and boba.

After pumpkin picking and a day of thrifting it’s time to head home and watch a fall movie or show like When Harry Met Sally or Gilmore Girls. This is the perfect time for some self care so pop on Curbside Peel by Life on Mars Beauty, a locally owned non-toxic brand.

Finally tuck yourself in and get ready for another beautiful day on campus tomorrow.

I hope you enjoyed your lovely fall day Seawolves.
