The Best 5 Ways to Power Through the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

We all know that feeling. When you feel sluggish, don’t want to get out of bed, and the weight of all your assignments makes you want to pull your hair out. With some midterms still happening and finals lurking around the corner, it can seem like you have no time to put yourself and your mental health first. But, luckily here are a few quick ways to help battle the stress of the second half of your semester!

Meditation

A little meditation can go a long way. It allows you to clear your head and relax for a few minutes without ever leaving your dorm!

Try Yoga

Just like meditation, a little yoga can go a long way. Stretching your muscles for 10 minutes can make you feel worlds better than sitting hunched over your laptop.

Listen to Calming Music

We’ve all been guilty of listening to some distracting music. Classic music has been proven to help you concentrate on your work and be very calming!

Drink Water

Staying hydrated is super important. It can keep you energized which helps you stay concentrating on the task at hand. Plus, it’s way healthier than a can of Red Bull.

Go for a Walk

Getting some fresh air and sun on your skin always helps. It clears your head and with spring approaching you’ll get to see all of the flowers beginning to bloom!

The last few weeks of the semesters after break are some of the hardest. Hopefully, this list helps even just a little bit! If one tip doesn’t work out, you can always try a different one and see if that helps. Good luck, Seawolves!
