As midterms are done and finals are quickly approaching, weeks are getting chaotic. There never seems to be enough time to finish everything while trying to get ahead and attempting to take time for yourself. I have to admit, I have been someone to get stuck in the eat-sleep-school-repeat lifestyle. It is hard to remind myself to shut down the school side of my brain and take some time for me. Life can be stressful, but there’s nothing a little self-care can’t fix! Here’s a list of ideas for self-care that are easy and effective. They have honestly helped me so much these past few chaotic weeks, and I hope they help you, too!

  • Stay hydrated.

  • Take at least 30 minutes out of your day to do something you enjoy:

    • Read a book

    • Journal

    • Hobbies

    • Workout

  • Plan out the week/make to-do lists.

  • Go on a walk.

    • Try listening to a podcast or a great playlist to make it even more stress relieving.

  • Stretching/yoga.

  • Practice breathing exercises.

    • Breathe in five seconds, hold five seconds, breathe out five seconds.

  • Make time for people who make you happy and give you good energy.

  • Go and treat yourself.

    • Get some coffee or tea.

    • Go to a nice dinner with some pals.

    • Get your nails done.

  • Do a craft.

  • Write down your thoughts and what you’re feeling.

    • After reflecting on it, write down some positives of what is going on.
