Self care is a buzz word thrown around to describe everything from face masks and treating yourself to training for a marathon.  Here are some underrated ideas that can help you reduce stress:

  1. Text or call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Connecting with someone you don’t typically talk to can make you feel so warm inside.

  2. Organize a space that you’ve neglected. This can be clearing out your backpack or completely decluttering your apartment; either way, it is a great way to spend energy on bettering yourself. Plus, it gives you visual results.

  3. Try an artistic pursuit. Even if you are not artistically gifted (I know I’m not), this can be a relaxing way to get away from your phone or laptop. Grab a pen and doodle! If it’s not insta-worthy, it’s okay; you don’t have to show anybody.

  4. Try a new recipe. I know I get stuck in a food rut and end up eating the same two things all the time. Get some inspiration online, and head to the grocery store.

  5. Write a list of things hanging over your head and get them done! Will this be the most enjoyable activity? No, but it probably will relieve the most stress. Jot down everything that’s been in the back of your head and make an attack plan. You’ll feel so much better when you’re done!
