With the weather finally warming up, I am going stir crazy when I have to spend most of the day inside. Here are a few ideas on how to spend a little more time outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

  • Go for a walk- This last week, Vanderveer has been a flurry of activity; it’s a great place to walk around, see the ducks, and maybe even pet a few dogs!
  • Walk the long way between stops- When I have a longer period between classes or when I’m done for the day walking back to the dorm, it can be nice to take a little detour, maybe walk by the Grotto or just take a few extra minutes to enjoy the fresh air.
  • Study outside- One of the great things about campus is the number of places available to study outside. You could put a blanket down on a lawn, use one of the many picnic tables scattered around campus, or use the courtyard in Hayes. All great options to enjoy time outside while being productive.
  • Utilize WRC resources- The WRC website has a whole page with ideas of local places to spend time outdoors, including price and their distance from campus, it’s a great way to find local spots!
  • Go for a bike ride- Bee Bikes has bikes that students can rent from the WRC. If you want some variation, it can be another great way to spend some time outdoors!

I am definitely going to be trying to get some more time outdoors now that the weather is nice. Hopefully this list gave you some ideas about how to make the most of the beautiful spring weather!
