I am 3 weeks away from no longer being a full time student and becoming a student teacher entering into my final semester. I am so excited to finish two more weeks and then finals. I will find out my placement soon and who will be my supervisor. I really want a preschool placement and 2nd grade along with Dr. Rekers as my supervisor.

This semester has really pushed me to the breaking point, at times sleep is a rare thing. Taking care of myself has been hard, but I have been doing my best. I am also super hard on myself at times wanting to get the best grades and perfect things because I need to be extremely prepared to teach.

This semester ahead is going to teach me how to let go and focus on my students. I can’t be the president and help run all the clubs I do so I need to hand off some things and delegate others because my students will be the priority now. I also need to think ahead when it comes to lesson planning and start meal prepping lunches so my mornings can have 1 less step in my early morning routine. I also know that I need to maintain a social life to help keep me balanced.

Preparing for this last semester has been terrifying but also so comforting because I will finally get to see all my hard work paying off as I work with my young students. I can’t wait to update you soon on the next part of my life and as I go through student teaching so keep an eye out for Ms. Alfred!
