5 Ways to Love Yourself This Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Queen's U chapter.

Valentine’s day falls at a rough time of year for university students; it’s cold and the weather is gross, we’re right in the middle of midterm season, and most of our friends are too caught up in schoolwork to celebrate a proper Galentine’s day. Despite this bad timing, there are several ways to celebrate Valentine’s day and treat one of the most important people in our lives: ourselves.

1. Buy that cute lingerie you’ve been eyeing for a while

Whoever says that lingerie is for your S.O. is full of it. Putting an especially sexy bra and pair of panties on in the morning before heading out to class or the library can almost always give me that extra boost of confidence that makes me feel unstoppable. Valentine’s Day is especially great because lots of stores carry extra cute lingerie for this time of year, making it the perfect time to add something fancy to your intimates collection.

2. Have a bubble bath

In addition to our favourite clothing companies coming out with special Valentine’s Day lines, Lush also has a great Valentine’s Day line out this year. Grab a few bath bombs or bubble bars and a good book, and take an indulgent bath to unwind from midterm stress.

3. Order dinner from your favourite place on UberEats or Skip the Dishes

Why go out to a restaurant when you can eat “out” in your favourite sweats, in bed, watching reruns of Brooklyn 99? Staying in to recharge with some comfort food is a great way to show yourself a little love.

4. Call your friends, even for five minutes

Even at an impossibly busy time like midterms, it feels really good to call the friends you love the most and chat about how your day was, if even for a few minutes. Hearing the voices of your loved ones is a great way to remind yourself that you are loved and that there are people out there who think you are really special.

5. Break out your favourite vibrator

Because it’s Valentine’s Day, and you deserve a good orgasm.
