When midterms roll around, stress is inevitable. Here’s some ways to keep your head from exploding this fall.
1. Get Outside
Take a walk around memorial mall or take the long route to get a coffee, a little vitamin D can go a long way.
2. Talk to a loved one
Call up a family member or Skype a friend at a different school. Just talking to someone who cares about you can calm your nerves a little and being on the phone can make it easier to get away if the conversation starts to drag on too long.
3. Exercise
Try yoga, pilates or cycling at the CoRec! Go for a bike ride with one of the Zagster bikes, even going for a quick jog outside can do a lot of good. Endorphins are what you need to prevent yourself from turning into a puddle of despair during midterm season and while exercise might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it really does help, I promise.
4. Treat yourself
Sometimes you just need to sit back and treat yourself. French fries from AJ’s, a milkshake from Pappy’s, or even a smoothie Freshens might be all it takes to brighten up your day. Even if you haven’t made a lot of progress studying, just relaxing for a moment with a food you really enjoy can make all the difference.
5. Plan the Weekend
When you’re really stressed out, looking toward the future can help a ton. I like to plan out all the fun things I’ll do during the weekend and having that to look forward to.
6. Clean your space
Making my surroundings more organized usually helps me when it comes to being more productive.
7. Chill in a hammock
Purdue has a ton of nice green space for people to enjoy while it’s still nice out. Do some homework outside or grab your Enu and set it up around the clap circle.
Happy Midterms! Boiler Up!
