Going back to school after a much needed Thanksgiving break can be daunting on your typical college student. These last few weeks are full of last minute learning, studying, exams and stress.

Your wallet might be crying from holiday shopping, your personal and work calendars are filling up fast and pretty much every aspect of your life is pumped up tenfold.

This is your guide to staying merry, cozy and sane in these last few stressful weeks before a winter break full of cheer, friends and family.

CREATE A HOLIDAY STUDY ROUTINE

Studying does not have to be a miserable task just to pass your classes and go into the holiday break with a happy head. It can be made enjoyable and rewarding by building in simple but festive rewards or moments into your review sessions.

If you enjoy listening to music while studying and getting your work done, consider switching your typical playlists for something more festive like a Christmas mix. Mariah Carey can always get someone in a better mood.

If that’s not your style, you can break up your studying by rewarding yourself after each chapter or few questions you complete. If you enjoy holiday treats, you can reward yourself with candy canes, peppermint bark or even gingerbread cookies.

There are many ways you can add some holiday cheer into your study routine, but these are just a few that can add that seasonal romanticizing into your routine.

ENJOY SOME FESTIVE FUEL

Enjoying some festive fuel is a great way to add some cheer to your daily routine. If you love getting a fun drink from Starbucks, Dunkin’ or any unique coffee shop in your college downtown, try some of the festive seasonal drinks.

Some great options from Starbucks include a Peppermint Mocha, Chestnut Praline Latte, Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte, Eggnog Latte and so much more. If you are a cold foam lover, trying their holiday cold foams is a must.

If you are more of a Dunkin’ girl, then I would recommend their Cookie Butter Cloud Latte, Peppermint Mocha Latte or the Toasted White Chocolate Latte.

There are so many festive seasonal drinks at so many different coffee shops and they are just waiting to be tried by you during this stressful time. They might just boost your mood and holiday spirit.

MAKE YOUR SPACE EXTRA COZY

Making your personal space extra cozy is a great way to spruce up not only your home but your holiday spirit.

A daunting, dark or plain room can really be a mood killer. With the addition of some bright lights, stockings or other festive decor, the chances of feeling gloomy in your space is low to none.

Some more decor inspo could be a mini tree, meaningful ornaments, holiday throw blankets and pillows or even frosted window clings.

These are perfect and simple ways to add some cheer into your college room or apartment during finals week.

PROTECT YOUR PEACE, AND YOUR GPA

Lastly, but definitely not least, is protecting your peace alongside your GPA. Nothing matters more than your mental health, so protecting it in the long run protects your GPA.

With a clearer and happier mind, you will feel more prepared to take on studying.

Incorporating short walks through campus to view the holiday lights, scheduling some time off to watch Christmas movies or simply getting more sleep will help you maintain more sanity and therefore a better GPA.

Carey will always be there for you. Do not let the outcome of your finals depict you as who you are as a person.

December can be an overwhelming month for so many different reasons, but lets try to not forget it is also filled with magic and festivities.

Late night baking, time with friends and family, secret Santas and the warmth of going home to spend some quality time with your loved ones for the holidays is unmatched. After working hard all semester, do not let the last few weeks get the better of you and dim your cheer.

So study hard, drink some festive fuel and make sure to prioritize yourself this holiday season!
