How to Deal with Stress During Finals Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

If you are a college student, before you have a few weeks of freedom (winter break), you have to go through finals week. It can be very stressful, but hopefully with these tips, your week of studying will be a little more enjoyable!

1. Exercise

Studies have shown that exercising improves your mood and mindset. From walking, spinning or running off the pain, overall, any type of cardio improves your physical and mental health.

2. Take breaks from studying

If you don’t take breaks from studying, your brain will get EXHAUSTED and not retain information! Get a snack, watch your favorite Youtuber or FaceTime with your dog! Let your brain relax for a bit so you can be uber-focused when you study! Personally, I like to take a 10-15 minute break after 30-45 minutes of work.

3. Use face masks

After I used one for the first time, I felt like this:

4. Get enough sleep

Sleep is SO important for your mental and physical health. Stop the caffeine addiction and go to bed earlier! It is easier said than done, but it is so worth it! Last Wednesday, I went to bed at 10 pm, and I felt FABULOUS the next morning.

5. Drink tea

There are so many reasons why tea is amazing. It helps you fall asleep, and the antioxidants in them are very healthy! Since flu season is dawning upon us, drinking tea will help you avoid the flu, and unfortunately if you get it, help you get rid of it! Personally, I love “Yogi” tea; they make DELICIOUS flavors, and the combination of herbs give you energy! Say goodbye to caffeine and hello to “Yogi” tea! I like to drink “The Green Tea Blueberry Slim Life” with fruit in the morning.

Do you have a particular way to relax during finals week? Leave it in the comments below!
