Dear body,

19 years.

For 19 years you have carried me, supported me and been there for me. I have pushed you to your limits, broken you and hurt you. And I am sorry.

When I was 13 and broke my,  your back, you still supported me through the 4 months of wearing a back brace.

When I was 15 and starved you to the point you were little more than skin and bone, you were still there. You stayed strong and persevered. You didn’t give up on me like I gave up on you. You became stronger.

When I was 17 and became obsessed with working out, you didn’t break under the pressure, you became stronger than ever. You took the workouts in stride, with only minimal complaints.

When I was 18 and heartbroken, you held me together. My heart felt as if it had been ripped out and torn to pieces, but you remained. When I cried, you dried my tears and reminded me I was more than enough.

Here I am, almost 20. Never in my younger years did I think that I would make it. My body has carried me all these years, always adapting, becoming stronger, more resilient. I have persevered through every pain imaginable.

I promise to take care of you, to love you and to be kind to you. You are fabulous, and you are strong.

So my dear body, thank you. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for being resilient. And most of all, thank you for reminding me that I am enough.

Xoxo,

Me
