The Ultimate American Bucket List for a Foodie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Like any student, you’ve likely scrolled through Instagram, seen an awesome looking rainbow bagel or birthday cake freakshake, and clicked to see where it’s from. 9 times out of 10, it’ll be somewhere in America, and so, whilst I can’t provide any solution to this struggle today, I can offer even more ideas to inspire you to save and then splurge once you hop across the pond.

DŌ cookie dough – New York, NY

Recently opened in Greenwich Village, this restaurant/café makes your favourite pre-baked treat in a safe, salmonella-risk-free manner. Spoonfuls of cookie dough are served ice cream style in a cone or cup, as well as blended into milkshakes or baked into cupcakes.

Pizzeria Uno – Chicago, IL

Deep-dish pizza is served casserole-style in the Prairie State, but the Illinois special actually originates from Illinois in 1943. Think Domino’s deep-pan on steroids, loaded with crisp tomatoes and plenty of stringy cheese. But beware: this heavy pizza is not for the faint-hearted, especially if you opt for sausage-style, served with a solid disk of meat right in the centre of this beast-like pie.

iDessert – San Diego, CA

This innovative restaurant allows you to customize your own dessert, sundae or milkshake, choosing from a range of flavours and ingredients before proceeding to a top-of-the-range iPad creation station. Your masterpiece will be whipped up before your eyes, with thousands of possibilities available to indulge your sweet tooth.

The Cove Bar – Anaheim, CA

Located inside Disneyland and overlooking Paradise Pier, this bar has a secret cocktail menu that means grown-ups can experience their own kind of magic at the happiest place on earth. Created by Disney’s own bartenders, exclusive offerings include the Fun Wheel, ‘Peter Pan’ inspired Neverland Tea, and The Black Pearl after ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

B Too – Washington DC

America has a knack for taking a craze and making it crazier, so this place serves what seems like absolutely anything waffle-style, including quiche, cornbread, lobster or donuts! Sweet, traditional Belgian-style is also on the menu, and the whole range has been tipped as some of DC’s greatest.
