Spring is in the air, and the sun is shining, finally. That means more people, more traffic and more sun, putting lots of stressors and free radicals on your body. Her Campus would like to dedicate the month of April to the Acai Berry. Want to be clean and radical free this spring? Eating this special berry will help you keep your skin tight and the blood flowing and protect your body from toxins.

This tropical berry, originating in South America, is full of powerful antioxidants which help to give the body a boost. The antioxidants paired with all the vitamins and minerals are good for the heart, blood flow, immune system and skin repair system.

Acai has been popping up all over our grocery stores recently. It has become a new member of most the fruit juice blends today. The berry itself looks like dark purple blueberry and its actually on the bitter side when eaten raw, so be weary of how much added sugar is in those drink mixes. The most common way to get it in your diet would be through juice form. Looking in the fresh fruit aisle, pure acai berry juice is available. Try this fun recipe for a refreshing drink this April.

Acai Berry Mocktail

1 c. Seltzer water

1 oz Cranberry juice

1oz Acai Berry Juice

Squeeze of fresh lime

Give it a shake and enjoy!
