Finals week is an extremely stressful time for every college student. Sometimes the stress that comes along with finals week can be overwhelming.

Here are 7 tips for how to deal with finals week stress:

1. Take finals week one day at a time

This may seem like a simple tip, but it is something many students forget to do during finals week. Take a moment, breathe, and tackle your finals one day at a time.

2. Eat three meals a day

Eating is important to do anyway, but is especially important when it comes to times of high stress. Take a break and enjoy a meal. Your finals aren’t going anywhere.

3. SLEEP

Sleep. Is. Vital. When you experience a lack of sleep, your stress level heightens. Studying is important, but getting a sufficient amount of sleep is even more important. Don’t overwork your mind and get some rest.

4. Don’t neglect your emotional health

Finals week is a time when many people are only thinking about tests and often forget about their own emotional well-being. Take a break from studying to decompress. After you take a little time to cool off from the finals week stress, you can get back to studying.

5. Practice self-care

Take a bath, take a walk, or watch an episode of your favorite TV show. Whatever makes you feel good; do that! Reward yourself for your finals week successes and take a non-study related break.

6. Find a study group

Finding a group of people in your classes who can help you study can be a great way to relieve some stress. A study group can help you keep on track with studying and help you answer questions you may not know. Study groups can act as a finals week support system.

7. Positive self talk

Hype yourself up! You got this! Remind yourself of all of the great things you can do. If you don’t do as well as you would have liked to on a final, remember it is not the end of the world.
