Even the weather knows

She knows that something is coming

Because she prepares our minds and our souls

With the dark clouds

With the heaviness in the air

She prepares our moods for the shift

By creating a shift herself

The bonus days of sunshine

Bright and vibrant

Wasn’t a sign of good to come

It was a parting gift

An extra sighting to remind us when it’s gone

The Weather planned that all along

Knowing what she was about to bear witness to

For it starts slow at first

A small drop

And another

And another

One at a time

Unable to create chaos on their own

Then they come in pairs

And triplets

Until the windows get closed

Not out of necessity

But out of caution

And then all at once

The flood gates open

The rain pours from the clouds

And my tears fight to fall with it
