The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I am the biggest Christmas fan ever. No joke. First thing once Halloween is over, the tree goes up and the decorations come out of storage. I unpack the sweaters, resurface the playlist – aptly named ‘The Awesomest Christmas Song Playlist’ – and enjoy every inch of snow.

But that’s only for November. The second November 30th turns into December 1st, I am all about the Christmas vibes. Ask my friends and family and I guarantee they will attest to my extensive Christmas sweater collection. I absolutely wear Christmas sweaters or apparel every day of December, and I absolutely take every opportunity to play Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You.’

It’s a special month for me. December is truly the sweet spot of winter. Everyone is still happy about the snow and willing to tolerate the cold for the cute pictures and cozy aesthetic. There’s just something about the cheer, the fluffy snow, the music, the lights, the sweaters, the cookies, and the mood that make it so perfect. Forget exams, forget the impending, cold winter: December is all about celebrating. And that is exactly what I do.

The holidays can be a hard time of year in general, but it can also be the most spectacular time of the year. I can’t admit that simply being thankful takes away all of my problems, but I know that my Christmas spirit does so much for my mood. It’s more than loud sweaters and cheesy music to me, although those things certainly help. Feeling that sense of pure joy around the holidays is something I look forward to every year. I let the excitement guide me and trust in the festivities to keep me going.

So, no matter what you celebrate, I hope that you can enjoy this December to the best of your ability. Find ways to make this holiday season special, not only for yourself, but for those around you. Because the only thing greater than basking in the holiday joy is sharing it with someone else.
