Spring and Summer 2023 Michigan Travel Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

As spring and summertime approach quickly, I have some wonderful ideas for your next weekend or day trip! Here are my top 5 Michigan destinations for your next adventure:

Plan a trip to:

  • Mackinac Island

This is one of the most popular travel destinations in Northern Michigan. Take time to bike the island, go kayaking, or even play a round of golf at Mission Point Resort! While visiting, I highly recommend visiting the Grand Hotel. Horse-drawn carriage tours also provide a wonderful way to tour Mackinac Island.

  • Holland Tulip Time Festival

This festival is one like no other as you can enjoy the view of 6 million tulips blooming in the Holland area over the course of eight days. The festival runs May 6th-May 14th. Plenty of other attractions in the area include restaurants.

  • Michigan’s Adventure Amusement Park

Looking for some thrill-seeking excitement? I recommend planning a trip to Muskegon, Michigan for some amusement park fun. Michigan’s Adventure also has a water park on-site. There is plenty of fun rides for adults and children, plus some yummy treats offered throughout the park; there’s popcorn, ice cream and hot dogs.

  • Traverse City National Cherry Festival

Each summer, Traverse City is known for being a tourist hot spot. Traverse City is known for having some of the best food spots, great sunsets, and even their own lighthouse on the Grand Traverse Old Mission Peninsula. Come in July, you won’t want to miss the National Cherry festival which takes place in downtown TC! https://www.cherryfestival.org/
