Self-Care Tips for Self-Care Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

As the long month of January closes, February officially starts us off with self-care month! With the new semester starting and winter break just ending you may feel as if you’re more stressed and tired than you were a month ago.

Try these self-care tips to make life a little less stressful and get yourself feeling better.

1. Make more time for you.

Have a night where you do all the things that relax you; take a bath, watch movies, do a face mask, read a book. Just pause and make the day or night all about you instead of your busy schedule.

2. Find a skin routine and stick to it.

The hardest part about a skin routine is getting out of bed to do it when you’re already comfy. Find the motivation to get out of bed to take your makeup off and wash your face, you’ll feel so much better in the morning.

  3. Make yourself leave the house.

Even when you absolutely want to stay in bed and binge watch Netflix, don’t. Drag yourself out of the house to go and hangout with all of your friends.

4. Have some girls’ nights.

Whether it’s going to parties, the bars, or staying in for pizza, wine and a movie, hanging out with your friends is a cure to a rough day.

 5. Write in your planner.

Organizing your life will put less stress on you to remember deadlines and allow you to focus on what you need to get done. Even if you’re not a fan of planners, keep reminders in your calendar on your phone of club meetings, get-togethers and school assignments. Life will be so much easier when you have everything planned right in front of you!

 6. Try to exercise.

With school, work and extracurriculars going on I know finding time to go to the gym is hard. If you can’t make it to the gym try doing things at home such as yoga or a quick 20 minute workout you find online, anything to get your body moving. A definite added bonus is that you’ll sleep better that night!

7. Drink more water.

There are so many benefits to drinking water, so why is it so hard to stay on top of it sometimes? Drinking more water can increase your energy, boost your immune system and possibly help with your complexion.
