There are many ways in which one can choose to practice exercise. However, recent researchers have shown that the most complete form of exercise is yoga, whether it is power yoga or just regular yoga. The true benefits of practicing power yoga may vary from body to body. Still, the final outcome to all body types is the same: with the constant practice of controlled breathing, one can achieve a nervous system with low levels of stress and anxiety.

Fitness scientists have found yoga, or power yoga to be the most complete form of exercise simply because it is the type of movement that does not only affect your muscles, but also, your emotional state and nervous system. Consequently, these types of emotional shifts cause the individual to not only get physically stronger, but mentally as well. This built up mental strength that comes from the practice of controlled breathing (achieved through the practice of yoga), proves to be a vital vitamin, in order for one to become more proactive and more susceptible to effective problem-solving skills.

After reading some articles about the benefits of practicing any kind of yoga, I began to find one element in common. Most people who began practicing yoga at least twice a week, reported significantly less stressful, anxious and nervous rants, and all within the first month of their yoga regimen or sessions. Even after gathering sufficient evidence of pro-yoga practice, the skeptic in me couldn’t fully grasp the true benefits of yoga, until I began practicing it three times a week since August.

I would like to encourage you to try practicing any kind of yoga, since it not only helped me become less stressed in general, but also helped me achieve a better mindset and sleep schedule. This is essential for everyone, but especially college students. If one finds out that yoga is not for them, they can always find different exercises that utilize and encourage the practice of controlled breathing. This will not only develop and gradually strengthen your emotional welfare and proactiveness, but it will also make one feel balanced and level headed. After experiencing these changes, one can truly measure and appreciate how powerful yoga really is.
