Out With The Old, In With The New: My 2025 Goals

With the new year approaching I have a number of goals I would like to accomplish. 2024 has taught me many life lessons, some of which I will take into the new year and others that I will do without. Every year I think of a few resolutions and either write them down or just make a mental list. This year looks different; it’s my final semester of college so I want to accomplish these things before becoming a college alum. I feel like you are officially an adult when you leave college. I’m not saying you have everything figured out, but you should not be making all the same mistakes as you did when in school. Here are three things I plan to focus on in 2025 to improve my post-grad life.

My Relationship with God

I am a Christian. I was raised to have faith and have always been a believer but I have not felt strongly connected to religion in a few years. I think this comes with being in college, it’s easy to have your faith tested and give in to things of this world. Especially if you are not surrounded by people who also believe. I never grew up going to church but it is something I would like to implement into my life. However, I have struggled to do that in college. I found one church that I liked and routinely went to it throughout my Freshman year. I also joined a bible study group and my faith was starting to really build itself; however, my motivation for faith faded the next year. I think this has to do with being surrounded by non-believers but also by not having enough willpower. That’s why I want to return to my roots and work on rebuilding my faith for the remainder of my senior year, so it naturally implements itself into my post-grad life. The difference between how I feel when I am actively seeking God versus when I am not is drastic. I feel so much better when I am connecting with God and using my faith to help others; it helps me find purpose within my everyday life.

Leveling-up my Routine

Routine is especially important in college. I have developed somewhat of a routine but it’s not as structured as I would like. I tend to build my routine around my class schedule for the semester, but when I do this I often don’t make time for things outside of class. I want to add working out regularly to my routine, right now I try to run once or twice a week. But I would like to get back into the gym and lift weights. I plan on having set days to go to the gym and booking free workout classes through IM West. Additionally, I want to prioritize my sleep more, having a set bedtime and waking up during the week. Right now, school has messed up my sleep schedule a lot, so I need to improve it before post-grad life.

Career Building

Considering that I am graduating in the spring, I am going to dial in on my career skills. That means, updating my resume and LinkedIn regularly along with actively applying for jobs. This is a key part of the year where the work that you put in could make or break the rest of your year. I plan on attending career fairs to network and sending some emails out to gather advice from professionals. As sad as I am to graduate, I am so excited for what’s ahead.

This upcoming year, I plan to really dial in on these three things. That way I am setting myself up for my post-grad routine and for success during my last semester of college!
