When I first stepped foot onto Michigan State University’s campus, I was convinced that four years would last forever and I would have so much time to learn and grow before graduating. Unfortunately for me, I was completely wrong and, as everyone says, time flew by. Now, even the simplest things like driving through campus are enough to get me nostalgic about my time at MSU. Here are a few of my absolute favorite places on campus that harbor countless memories and mean a lot to me in general.
The MSU Union.
I remember my friends and I during our freshman and sophomore years would spend countless hours at the Union. Whether it was to do homework or just spend time together, the Union was always the spot we would go to. Of course, the food there was also a plus, but the overall vibes were always immaculate.
The IM East Field.
When I lived in McDonel Hall during my freshman and sophomore years, my friends and I would quite literally always hang out on the IM East Field whenever it was warm outside. We would have frequent picnics, play a multitude of games, cloud gaze, do homework, people watch, and do pretty much anything under the sun. Back then, nothing would beat getting out of class and rushing over to the field to spend time with my friends.
The River Trail.
I feel like I spent around half of my undergraduate career walking on the River Trail. Whether I was going to class, downtown, or meeting friends, I was always on the trail. I remember always having a blast talking to my friends, enjoying the view, and just being present in the moment. Looking back, the trail was much more than just a path that led to my destination: it was a vessel that holds so many memories that I have here at MSU, and it’s a large part of my college experience.
Of course, I could go on and on about every single place at MSU that I cherish, but that would just take forever. I’m so grateful that I chose to come to Michigan State, over 500 miles away from home, and was able to create so many lasting memories here in East Lansing.
