I recall last winter––walking around campus, my breath becoming visible in the cold, my cheeks and nose tinted pink––and it all makes me smile. I listened to Lizzy McAlpine’s album, Give Me A Minute, and it made me want to rush out into the cold and chase the feeling of love.

This album brought me so much comfort, so here are some songs from it that I hope will bring you the same:

  1. “I Knew”

I knew that you loved me

When I saw that my shoe was untied

You bent down to tie it in the middle of the street

There was snow everywhere, it was turning to sleet

But I knew when you looked up at me

  1. “Where Do I Go?”

I wanna tell you I love you

But do I really know how I feel anymore?

  1. “To the Mountains”

And don’t you try to reach me while I pick myself up and go

I’ve got to do this on my own

I need to build myself a home

  1. “Means Something”

Every time I trust my gut,

I think I’m crazy

‘Cause I don’t know how to put my trust in you

  1. “Same Boat”

You are on my mind

When I miss the snow

You show up when I hear that song or

I finally start watching that TV show

I don’t know why every time that I think of home

I can picture you standing in the cold

  1. “Pancakes for Dinner”

I wanna eat pancakes for dinner

I wanna get stuck in your head

I wanna watch a TV show together

And when we’re under the weather, we can watch it in bed

  1. “Apple Pie”

Every house looks the same in my dreams

Every house feels like home for a couple weeks

I’ve been runnin’ ’round trying to find a

Place where I can breathe
