I’ve always been the type of person who functions best with some sort of routine. Because of this, I’ve sometimes found myself struggling during the summer months without the structure of school adding routine to my life. Sure, I’ll be relaxing, but I also have had the tendency to not make the most of my time during the summer, which can leave me feeling disoriented. This year, one of my personal goals is to really get the most out of this summer, so here are a few habits I’m building to make that possible.

1. Making time to work out

I have my daily workout routine during the school year, but I don’t always have the time during the summer to really enjoy working out or explore new workouts I’ve always wanted to try. This summer, I want to spend more time doing workouts that genuinely make me excited, as well as trying new ones whenever possible. Currently, I’m trying to get back into biking and rollerskating!

2. Learning to cook new things

Summer is also the perfect opportunity to try out some new recipes! There are so many different seasonal fruits and vegetables that I’ve always wanted to learn how to use, but have never got around to trying. This summer, one of my goals is to try learning to cook new things and incorporate new ingredients.

3. Experimenting with my style

I sometimes struggle to branch out with my personal style during the school year. I often see new outfits or hairstyles I’d love to try, but I find myself too busy to shop around for new pieces. I’m really looking forward to playing with my style this summer and hopefully finding some new options I really like! I’m especially excited to try some new nail styles and colors, and I’d really like to learn how to do some simple nail art.

4. Spending time with nature

Being with nature – especially being in the woods – has always been incredibly important to me.  There’s practically nothing I love more than going on a long hike to clear my head. However, during the school year I typically don’t have time to do this, and I often find myself really really missing it. This summer I’m so excited to spend time exploring nature, whether it’s through a hike with my friends or a relaxing day at the lake.

These are just a few things I’m trying to incorporate in my life this summer to keep  myself busy and help me to make the most of my time. I am so excited to try new things and explore new places. I hope this also helps you get a little inspiration for things to try this summer as well!
