Valentine’s Day is coming! The day when love is exclusively celebrated and you can show appreciation for your relationships with friends, partners, family, and any significant figure in your life. Planning for such an occasion can be hard, especially when it feels like there is nothing fun to do in the area. I’ve compiled a list of potential V-Day activities to do in Michigan to liven up the special day!

  1. Pottery class

Pottery is something I’ve been wanting to try for ages now, but never found the time or opportunity to do. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to try it, as it’s not only romantic, but also super fun. I will be trying this out at an Ann Arbor studio! Find a local class or studio and book a spot as soon as possible, as spots fill up fast.

  1. Cooking or baking class

This is something that people don’t usually think about, but it could be so so fun, especially with friends. Most classes offer virtual options so you can cook in the comfort of your home, or you can find a nearby workshop. I have yet to try it, but it is definitely on my bucket list!

  1. Candlelit dinner + movie night

This is a classic, but it never gets old! Order some takeout and dessert, build a comfy fort, and watch a movie of your choice. Add a couple scented candles and LED lights in there, and viola! You have a perfectly set night in with your friends or lover.

  1. Rent an airbnb or get a hotel for a night or two!

If you’re looking to get out of the house and explore a new area for Valentine’s weekend, I highly recommend renting an Airbnb or getting a hotel and exploring a nearby city. Some fun areas to visit are Ann Arbor, Grand Haven, or Grand Rapids. You could even have friends over for a weekend out. This is definitely a fun option to get out of your home, but also be comfortable and avoid the cold!

  1. Hot Tub/Hot Springs Garden

Trust me, you will not regret this one. It’s super fun and relaxing and you can spend quality time with your friends or significant other. I recommend trying Oasis Hot Tub Gardens in Ann Arbor, which has themed suites with both indoor and outdoor options!

  1. Have a spa day

This one is pretty much self explanatory, but it is definitely a must if you have not tried it before. A lot of places have different group packages so you won’t have to go alone or be separated from your guest. Even if a spa isn’t realistic, you deserve to treat yourself at home!

  1. Go to an arcade or go bowling

This is such a fun activity to do with a group of friends. Head over to our local Pinball Pete’s or any arcade or bowling centre nearby to let your competitive side out! Interested in golf instead? Head over to Top Golf.

  1. Grab an outdoor dinner

Honestly, this might be my favourite: one, because I love food, and two, because it is super easy, fun, and requires no major planning. Pick your favourite city and try new food! This is a date you literally cannot mess up or regret, so if you want a simple way to have fun, try this!

I hope this list helps kickstart your Valentine’s Day plans! Remember – regardless of what you are doing, being around the people who make you happy will always be fun. These are just ways you can enhance your time and try something new. Stay safe and Happy Valentine’s Day!
