Why did you decide to join the Social Media Team at HCMSU?

“I joined the social media team because I’ve always loved content creation and marketing. However, I didn’t have a lot of experience – or a platform – to learn and show it. So, when I saw the spot open, I wanted to give it a shot and now I love it more than I thought!”

What’s your favorite part about being the social media director?

“My favorite part about being the social media director is that I get to organize a bunch of fun projects with other Her Campus chapters, our members, events, etc. I get to work with some amazing people to create interesting content for our members and the public. It’s super fun and I love seeing our Her Campus social media engagement and members grow because it plays a huge role in recruitment! It’s also taught me a lot about leadership, discipline, organization, and time management which will be super useful for life in general!”

Are you personally active on your social media accounts?

“Yes! I would say I’m pretty active on my social media. However, I only have Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook (which I rarely use lol). So, I am mainly only active on Instagram. I love sharing my favorite memories; it’s almost my portfolio of my best moments. Whenever I look at them I get happy, plus they’re never lost because I rarely check photos in my camera roll. I use Snapchat to keep in touch with my friends, but I prefer text messaging with everyone!”

What’s your favorite part about HCMSU?

“My favorite part about HCMSU is the flexibility, freedom, and [the] people! It’s not a huge commitment that you have to constantly stress about. Rather, it’s a fun activity that you truly enjoy doing. This is probably the only magazine that allows complete creative freedom to their writers and that has been a big thing for me. A lot of people use writing as a platform to express their thoughts and ideas, it’s a way of coping sometimes. Plus, I love the members! We have a diverse group and everyone is super sweet and easy going! You can definitely meet new people here and it’s not ‘clique-y.’”

Would you recommend HCSMU to other students? If so, why?

“OMG absolutely, everyone should join HCMSU!! Even if you’re not a great writer, you will learn and never be judged! You have complete creative freedom and practically write about anything! You will meet like-minded people and we have a ton of fun projects, events, and collaborations that make you feel like you’re a part of something bigger. We are a group that strives for women empowerment, support, and building a strong community. Plus, we’re gender inclusive and love our new members!  I recommend everyone to check out social media, especially our Instagram, to see all the fun things we do!”
