Moving your body is important for overall health. Over the years from being in volleyball in high school, to lifting at the gym, or trying muay thai boxing, I try to stay active. I wanted to try something new that wasn’t so intense. So, I did a 28 day yoga challenge, so now here are some of my thoughts.

Yoga’s hard! Just because you aren’t going 100 miles an hour doesn’t mean it’s easy. Slowing down your movements and methodically working through the exercises takes precision. Control and balance are essential when it comes to practicing yoga, and I definitely need to work on that some more.

Slowing down is a good change of pace. Yoga allows you to be more centered with your thoughts and with how crazy life can get it’s a nice way to check in with yourself. It takes a lot of focus to not be distracted by the million things on your to-do list and to shut off your brain for 30 minutes.

The way you breathe is so important. You would never realize how powerful your breath is until you try yoga. It truly releases tension while you work through hard rotations. It’s also something that you can bring into all aspects of your life. Being able to utilize your breath is a great skill to have.

Overall, yoga is definitely a practice that I need more work in. Through this process, though, I’ve learned that yoga is hard, slowing down is a good change of pace, and the way you breath is so important. Definitely recommend giving yoga a try when you get a chance.
