With the number of new skincare products hitting the market each day, it is easy to see that the U.S has an increased interest in skincare. However, one critical aspect of skincare has yet to gain as much traction: preventative skincare. This category includes products that don’t necessarily give you immediate results, but rather nourish your skin with the appropriate vitamins and chemicals needed to keep your skin healthy as you age. Yes, this includes the wrinkle cream that you saw on your grandmother’s dresser as a child. But times have changed, and with it has the approach that brands have taken to preventative skincare products. Here are some of my favorite products that promise healthier skin for years to come.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye-Cream ($27.50)

Being the first eye-cream that I ever invested in, this product has been my tried and true for awhile! The product description states that this cream “Delivers a rush of hydration and instant brightening” and I attest to that. After the first couple of uses, I could feel a noticeable firmness in the sensitive skin around my eyes. Because the skin of our eyelids and under-eyes is so thin, it’s extremely important to keep moisturized without being abrasive. I don’t purchase this product back to back, but even when I’m not currently using the cream, I can feel the lasting strength that it built up.

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist ($48.00)

This find was a total accident. I was in the checkout line at Sephora and-being extremely susceptible to pretty packaging-picked up the $15 mini-version of this product. Facial mists are one of my favorite skincare products to use, and as soon as I felt how velvety this mist felt on my skin, I knew I was hooked. The spray itself is an extremely fine mist with a light, pleasant scent. I recommend using this product before bed, it adds a soothing layer of moisture to both dry and oily skin types. It can also be applied over makeup, but with a product this expensive, I like to use it on my bare skin as much as possible.

Kiehls Since 1851 Midnight Recovery ($27.00)

This. This is it. My sensitive skin absolutely adores this oil. I’m always hesitant to introduce products like this into my routine, as oil-based ingredients tend to cause a breakout, but this product has been nothing but kind. This is a nighttime oil that is said to “restore and replenish for smoother, healthier-looking skin—all while you sleep.” After using this product consistently for a few weeks, I noticed immediate changes in the overall clarity and smoothness of my skin. This serum is packed with amazing ingredients that are sure to keep your skin healthy and strong for years to come.

LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask ($20.84)

Nothing is better than a sleeping mask, and this one from LANEIGE is the most cooling and calming one that I’ve tried. Moisture is the most important element for your skin, and this overnight mask does an amazing job of plumping up the skin without that greasy feeling one can get from other overnight products.

ELF Soothing Aloe Facial Mist ($8.00)

As a huge fan of drugstore skincare, this facial mist is in my top 5 all-time favorites. This spray in particular is extremely soothing, and goes well with all skin types! After a long day, nothing feels better than taking all my makeup off and applying this cooling mist. This mist is not as finely sprayed as higher-end ones, but it works just as well. Aloe is a super ingredient, shown to improve the overall health of skin with continued use.

Thanks to the plethora of products available, it has never been easier to treat your skin to the nourishment it deserves. By adding a product or two to your daily routine, luxury brand or simply drugstore, you can guarantee yourself healthy, radiant skin for years to come.
