Mirror, mirror, on the wall who’s the fairest of them all?

Is it the blue-eyed blonde with a waist so small it could break?

Is it the thicker girls with big butts and breasts that fall?

Is it the picture-perfect barbie doll with surgery done for some else’s sake?

Maybe the girl exposing a little too much skin at the mall?

Or the group of friends tearing each other down because they’re fake?

Scrolling through expectations of hair, face, body, and they’re all,

Broken, shattered from looking in that mirror a little too long.

Wishing they could take bits and pieces of themselves away.

Praying to feel good enough, accepted, loved, and beautiful.

Most of all they’re wishing they weren’t wondering,

Who’s the fairest of them all?

As a little girl, I spent hours writing stories. Obviously they weren't exactly bestsellers, but it was my passion nevertheless. I would fill up my notebooks with everything I didn't know how to say out loud, and anything I could imagine. Now, as a college student, I'm chasing my dream one word at a time. I'm currently studying English and Marketing, with the intention of becoming an editor.
