Welcome back to school everybody! College is something that you can easily fall behind if you don’t know what you’re doing. But today the whole point of this article is to help you understand how not to do that. So whether you are a freshman or an upperclassman, take a look at your schedules, take a deep breath and know that everything will be ok.Â
Make a to-do listÂ
This is something that can be really easy and fun to do. Making a to-do list week-by-week will not only save you time, but save you from doing assignments last minute. So take a trip with your roommates, go to the store and buy a cute pad of paper or make your own. By making it that way you understand it. This is your project not anybody else’s.Â
CalendarsÂ
As a college student, due dates will approach quickly and with all the assignments piling up, you will get overwhelmed. A calendar is the most important way to stay organized and it can be fun to make. There are so many different types of calendars from your phone to a white board.Â
My favorite thing to do is to have a white board and my phone calendar. The white board for me is specifically for assignments and my on-campus job. While my phone is for locations of classes and other clubs that I’m a part of.Â
Reading the SyllabusÂ
The syllabus is one of the most important resources you have as a college student. It tells you when assignments are due and how to turn them in. At the beginning of the semester, or at the start of each month, take some time to read over your syllabi. This will help you get a clear understanding of what you are going to learn, what assignments you need to complete, and what you need to do to be prepared for class each week.Â
Personalize ThingsÂ
This is one of the most important things you can do in college, and I cannot stress it enough. If you don’t make something your own, you may not want to continue doing it.
Grab a pack of markers, put on a TV show or movie, and sit down with your roommates while you get organized. Not only is this a fun way to learn about your roommates’ schedules, but it also gives you an opportunity to get to know them better. College isn’t always going to be fun or easy, so you have to make it enjoyable for yourself. And lastly, remember: there is never too much glitter!
