For the last two Thanksgivings, I’ve made banana bread to go with the dessert spread. My family and I already love it, and I’ve gotten my extended family hooked. I start with Joy’s Easy Banana Bread recipe as a base, and add my own secret twists: chocolate chips and vanilla, which only makes the banana bread more delicious.

JESSICA’S BANANA BREAD RECIPE:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips
  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  3. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  4. Combine mashed bananas, sugar, egg, and butter together in a bowl.
  5. Mix flour and baking soda together in a separate bowl; stir into the banana mixture until the batter is just mixed.
  6. Stir in salt, vanilla, and chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean, about 1 hour.
  9. Enjoy!

This is a great dessert to add to any Thanksgiving spread, or just to make on a random weekend. Either way, having fresh banana bread is always a joy. (Ha, get it?) I’d recommend saving three ripe bananas and freezing them the week you want to make the banana bread, so that part is all set and ready to go!
