When away at college, multiple things can stress you out. Whether it is a club responsibility, internship, job, drama with friends, or drama from home, there is more to stress out a college student that isn’t just classes. Yes, the workload is hard, but with outside stressors it is even harder. Here are some good tips on how to destress.

Take A Nap

If there is one thing I learned in my last three years of college, it is the power of the nap. If I am feeling extra stressed, and if I have time for it, I try to take a nap that is about an hour or two long. Be careful though, being in your comfortable bed may decrease your motivation after.

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to clear your mind after a stressful day. Simply just take a few deep breaths, or find a guided meditation online. It is proven that 10 minutes of meditation a day can help one control stress, decrease anxiety, and improve cardiovascular health. To be honest, I don’t do it every day. When I do it, though, I am so calm and relaxed after.

Work Out

Working out is a great way to blow off steam. Do you ever leave a workout feeling great? Working out pumps up your endorphins, making your mind happier as you work out. Working out helps build confidence and also helps relieve stress.

Music

Listening to music, or even playing an instrument, is a great way to reduce stress. By playing good music and dancing around, it is inevitable to stay in a stressed, bad mood. Any music will do, but I prefer to listen to calming music or dance music when I am stressed.
