Her Campus KU turns two this Thursday! We have had two great years of article writing, event planning, cutie searching and more! To celebrate our birthday, we are having a month full of events, starting with a special Tea at 3 celebration on Thursday in the Kansas Union at 3 p.m., followed on Friday, Sept 5 with a Birthday Blowout at the Bull all-day long. Then on Sept 16 we will be hosting our Beauty Break Night at Plato’s Closet, partnering with Elevate Massage to bring chair massages, Marinello’s Beauty School to bring a braid bar and make-up tips PLUS McAlister’s Deli will be catering all night long!
Before we get to all the fun though, let’s remember the great times we’ve had here at Her Campus KU! I am happy to count down the top ten moments in Her Campus KU’s history.
10. ‘Cause I’m Bossy Article: One of our favorite articles from this last year came from a Her Campus Alum Brea Cudney, who hit the nail on the head with her evaluation of the word bossy and it’s connotations! Check it out here!

9. National Women’s Day 2014: On National Women’s Day 2014 we asked people on Wescoe Beach why they love being a woman or love women and we got some great responses!
8. Won Contest against Mizzou: We had a contest against Her Campus Mizzou to see who could get the most Facebook likes on a photo- of course, the Jayhawks prevailed with 437 likes!

6. Growing our chapter to nearly 40 members: When we started the chapter in 2012, we had about six consistent members. Now, we have 30-40 at any given time! It’s been an exciting ride and we love having more people in HC KU! Make sure to apply at http://tinyurl.com/hercampusappfall.

5. Chipotle “Farmed and Dangerous” Event: In February, we hosted 100 students to watch the new Chipotle series “Farmed and Dangerous,” with free Chipotle Catering! What could make for a better movie meal?
4. Teen Vogue Event: Our very first event of 2013 was the Teen Vogue Back to School Event, where we gave away tons of amazing items from brands like Nasty Gal, St. Tropez, Maybelline and more at Fuzzy’s, while hosting a percentage night! Tons of girls got some free swag, with tacos to boot!
3. Take the Lead: HC KU hosted a live-screening of the Take the Lead Challenge, a conference that brings together women to close the gap between the genders in both pay and leadership roles. With speakers like Carla Harris from Morgan Stanley and the headliner, Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, it was a night for the 400+ attendees to remember.
2. HCKU Takes NYC: Her Campus KU members got to take a trip to New York in July 2014 for the annual Her Campus Conference! We had a great time learning about improving our Her Campus presence, plus meeting huge names in the media industry. Also- NEW YORK.
