7 Dance Workouts on YouTube You Need to Try

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

Since the beginning of quarantine, I’ve been following workouts on YouTube because the gyms were closed. I loved the workouts so much that even after the gyms opened I didn’t bother going. I get such an effective and great workout from the videos I follow just in the comfort of my own home! A lot of the workouts I follow come from Sydney Cummings (@sydneycummings_). She posts a brand new workout every single day and really kicks my butt while helping me stay positive during the workout. I had to at least mention her because while she doesn’t post dance workouts, she really is a great trainer.

When I’m not following a Sydney Cummings video, or I’m just in a little bit of a slump and can’t find the motivation to work out, I try to mix it up. These dancing workouts are great for any fitness level and perfect if you struggle to find motivation to hit the gym. There are literally thousands of dance workouts on YouTube but these are just a few that I found to be really unique and exciting!

2000s Dance Workout by MadFit

MadFit or Maddie, has a variety of workouts on her channel and she is one of the first people to come up on YouTube when you type in “dance workout.” This 2000s workout is super fun and filled with great throwbacks to get your fitness on to.

Cardio Latin Dance Workout by POPSUGAR Fitness

According to their description on the video, “this Latin dance workout proves you can get your heart rate up while shaking your hips and shimmying your shoulders.” It even provides modifications if some of the moves are just a little bit too advanced for your level, which I love.

Mamma Mia HIIT Workout by emkfit

Finally, I can jam to the Mama Mia soundtrack AND get a good workout in at the same time! Emkfit is a super energetic trainer who makes this workout go by super quick. It’s one thing to listen to the soundtrack during my runs but to actually turn normally boring moves into a fun dance? She did the impossible!

Beyonce Mix by Up to the Beat Fit

Trainer Gina B. guides you through this calorie and cardio blasting workout using the one and only Queen B’s hits. In less than 15 minutes you will be sweating and swaying your way to your fitness goals.

Disney HIIT Workout by That Disney Girl

That Disney Girl collabs with EmKFit to bring us a series workout moves paired up with your favorite Disney songs. This high intensity workout is designed to blast fat and keep you burning calories long after you’re finished dancing!

Truth Hurts Dance Workout by Caleb Marshall

Caleb Marshall aka The Fitness Marshall has hundreds of dance videos on his channel. He matches his high energy and dance moves with popular songs that will get you pumped up and motivated to get fit. This video in particular is my favorite because even when I’m not working out, this song gets me pumped up!

The Greatest Showman Dance Workout by Kyra Pro

I was so excited when I found this video because the Greatest Showman is one of my favorite movies. In just 15 minutes you can really customize your workout to be lower or high impact while still getting a great sweat in!

If you’re in a workout slump or just interested in switching up your workouts, I highly recommend giving dance workouts a try! They can be so fun and there are so many different kinds on YouTube that you will be sure to find one you enjoy! Happy exercising!
