I moved to Rhode Island for school, two years ago, and let me tell you: the weather here is terrible. One day I feel like I’m walking around the North Pole and then the next day I’m enjoying the sunllight outside in a t-shirt. Can’t it just be cold for a month and gradually change into spring? This is definitely a New England thing. One day my nose is freezing and another day I’m dripping in sweat. That’s just one out of five more reasons that you know you’re a NE kid. Here’s the rest:
1. Constant changes in the weather: Stick to sunshine! I’m tired of driving on half melted snow on the ground, it’s nearly impossible to drive…especially for people who naturally have a hard time on the wheels!
2.Terrible drivers: I think it’s safe to say that New England drivers do not know that turn signals are in existance. They also don’t know the meaning of urgency. 10 miles per hour is the way to go.
3.Anyone from another state thinks you have an accent: Nope, sorry outsiders, I’m not going to forget about my R’s just because you expect me to have an accent.
4. Ice Hockey is life: You never miss a game at the Dunkin Donuts Center if you’re a true fan.
5. Winter is especially freezing. Bundle up, because two hoodies, two sweatpants, four layers of socks and three gloves won’t cut it.
These are just a few of many things I picked up on since moving to Rhode Island. Maybe it’s because I’m a Jersey girl, but living here is like an adventure on it’s own.
