5 Things for College Students to Remember This Thanksgiving Break

It’s nearly Thanksgiving and finals are creeping up on all of us. Despite being close to break, this is still a very stressful time. Final projects and exams are looming, fatigue is at its peak, and not everyone gets along with their family. Add on everything else and it is no surprise we are so tired. There are five things that I want to remind you all about this chaotic time.

It’s okay to be burnt out

After more than three months of constantly grinding assignments, studying, work, club involvement, etc., anybody would feel burnt out. It’s completely normal to feel this way and it’s important to accept that. Use these few days off as a way to relax and recharge before the last week or two of locking in.

It’s the homestretch

I know locking in again after break sounds tough, but remember it’s the homestretch and in just a few weeks you’ll be able to relax guilt-free without any upcoming obligations looming over your shoulders. I believe in you!

Be proud of yourself

Think about everything you have accomplished this semester. You grinded for months straight and balanced so many different things and now you’re almost one semester closer to graduation! Give yourself some grace and acknowledge all of your wins instead of focusing on your exhaustion. Keep the end goal in mind and it will help you push through finals!

Spend time with loved ones

This is typically a given during the holidays, but with upcoming finals and a long list of other obligations, make sure to block out some time aside from just Thanksgiving to visit loved ones. I know family relationships are complicated, so this doesn’t just have to mean immediate family. This could also mean grandparents, childhood friends, pets, etc.

Schedule miscellaneous tasks

Little tasks tend to slip our minda during the hustle of the semester. However, many things still need to get done and be maintained. For example, getting your yearly physical, seeing the dentist, or getting your car inspected. These tend to be difficult to schedule during the week during business hours around classes, so break is the perfect time to get them done.

I hope these reminders are helpful and I wish you all the best of luck during finals!!
