Recently on TikTok, I came across the niche trend of people making analog bags. After doing a deep dive on the concept, I can say that I am totally for them!
Basically, analog bags are a tote bag full of non-digital hobby items that you keep on hand to avoid doomscrolling. It was made viral last year by TikTok creator Siece Campbell. It’s kind of like the adult version of the art supply cases we all had as kids!
At first, I thought this was a silly concept, but then I realized how much less time I would spend on my phone if I had fun, low-effort activities at the ready at all times. I struggle with going on my phone as a “default” when I have nothing to do, and I know this can be unhealthy at times. If you’re like this too, maybe an analog bag is a good idea for you!
What I like about the analog bag is that it doesn’t have to have super complex, time-consuming crafts. They can just have fun, simple activities to turn their brain off! You can customize your analog bag however you want.
Here are some ideas for what items you can use to get your analog bag started:
- A journal
- Books/Magazines
- Coloring books
- Word searches or other puzzle books
- A sketch book
- A deck of cards
- Diamond art kits (or any art kit!)
- A punch needle kit (or any other easy fiber craft)
- Watercolors
Or any other activity that helps you relax and stay off your phone!
