Season depression is real and I’m sure we’re all feeling it right now- winter, unfortunately, isn’t gone yet. With the weather going from warm, chilly, to snowing, and back again within a week our bodies can feel out of whack. It’s like one day the sun is out and you feel a boost of energy and you’re ready to take on the day; the next day, the sun is nowhere to be found and you’re wanting curl up on the couch and not move. On the days you’re feeling low, that’s when it’s most important to take care of yourself! Here are some tricks I try to give myself a boost on those cloudy days:

Yoga

Simple stretches in the morning make such a difference. You’re waking up your body, gently, and getting yourself moving in a simple way. The intensity is up to you- do a full-body stretch or a full-body workout. There are so many resources to help get you started, too! I really like Adriene Mishler’s Youtube videos. She guides you through the routine and has a calming, positive voice!

cleaning

This may not be for everyone, but personally, I love it. Cleaning your environment opens up the space and refreshes your surroundings and as a result, you too! This can give you a fresh slate when stuck inside for the day and help you feel more motivated to get started with your day. Plus, you’ll feel super satisfied once it’s done!

Skin care

If you’re super busy and can’t spare much time, but are still feeling gloomy, add a few steps to getting ready for the day. Try a face mask, they typically take no more than 20 minutes! This is a simple thing but can give you a boost and help you feel fresh. Even try to apply lotion to your arms and legs; yes, this is something so small, but it can have an impact. It’s the small things that can make a difference in your whole day.
