Although it can be nice to study in a familiar environment, changing up your surroundings can also be an effective way to help you concentrate more and study better. Here are some new places on campus you can try out:

1. Funk ACES Library

Location: 1101 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana

Four out of five floors of the ACES library are open for students and anyone in the University community. The library has large tables, desks with computers, and cubicles with plenty of room to spread out your notebooks and textbooks.

2. English Building

Location: 608 S. Wright St., Urbana

The good study spots are in the basement. You can either spend time at the computer lab, which also includes a separate study space without computers, or the public study space in the middle of the basement.

3. Laundry Room

Location: Home

It sounds like a strange place to do your homework, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try. Even though all laundry rooms don’t have a table and chair you can sit at, if your dorm or apartment has them, bring your homework and do it while you wait for your laundry to be done.

4. The Tunnel

Location: In between the Main Library and Undergraduate Library

There is a tunnel that connects the Main Library and the Undergraduate Library. It is located right next to the Espresso Royale at the UGL. It is not as quiet as the Main Library but not as loud as the UGL. Grab a coffee and study there!

5. Main Library

Location: 1408 W. Gregory Dr., Urbana

Many students prefer the UGL over the Main Library, but the Main Library is a good place to study if you work best in silence. There are multiple libraries in the building — such as the Literature and Languages Library — that you can choose from.

6. Psychology Building

Location: 603 E. Daniel St., Champaign

The Psychology Building has open space available for students on the first floor right when you walk in. It doesn’t look like your typical study room, but it is a good change in environment that might work in your benefit.

7. Caffe Bene

Location: 524 E. Green St., Champaign or 700 S. Gregory St., Urbana

There are two Caffe Benes on campus: one in Urbana and one in Champaign on Green Street. If you feel like buying a coffee or grabbing an acai bowl and studying in a nice cafe, this is the place to go.

Happy studying!
