I think most of us can agree that summer is the best time of the year. No class, warm weather, and longer, sunny days to enjoy make for the best time to spend with friends and family. However, while enjoying some time off, it is important to stay on top of taking care of your body and your overall health. So, here are six tips to keep you healthy over the summer break!

1. Enjoy Fruit

Summer is the prime time for many seasonal fruits. You can enhance your overall health and well-being by adding a cup of mixed summer fruit to your daily diet. Whether it is watermelon, plums, pineapple, cantaloupe, or whatever other berries and fruit you prefer, take this small step for better health.

2. Excercise Outdoors

When the weather is so nice, it seems like a waste to go to the gym and spend part of your day indoors. So, to maintain your exercise regime, take your workout outside. Whether it is a run or long walk, you can enjoy the weather while staying on top of your workout game.

3. Wear Protective Sunglasses & Sunscreen

While the sun and heat are awesome, it can be detrimental to our eyes and skin. In order to protect your body, wear sunglasses that protect your eyes from the UV rays. Also, wear sunscreen with a high enough SPF for your skin type to prevent sunburns!

4. Vacation

As college students, we are constantly on the go from September to May with school work, classes, and extracurriculars. Therefore, to help de-stress yourself, make sure you relax and actually enjoy your break. Whether that be a family trip to the beach or a weekend getaway with friends, take time to relax your mind and body and reward yourself for all of your hard work.

5. Hydrate

The heat of summer can drain your body. It is always important to have a high water intake, but summer is an even more crucial time to make sure you are staying hydrated and healthy.

6. Sleep

It can be very difficult to get a good night’s sleep with longer summer days and early mornings with summer jobs, but make sure that your mind and body are getting proper rest to keep your energy high!
